s3media Streamextension for Joomla 1.5

What can S3Media Stream™ Do for You?

Joomla Module Joomla Module Joomla 1.5 Native

S3Media Stream has all the features of S3Media Pro and more:

1.) Serve video and audio to your visitors without using any code.
2.) Visitors can jump ahead within a video or audio without the need to wait for it to download.
3.) You can now divide a long video into chapters without the need to break up the video itself. This way, you have the option of serving the video piecemeal to your visitors. Same goes for audio.
4.) Total download weight (megabytes) no longer matters because only the part that is actually viewed is charged to you in bandwidth usage. With progressive download you pay it all, so S3 CloudFront, although it adds to the bill, will compensate in the way streaming works.
5.) HD switch gives you the option to set a low- and high resolution video for streaming. That way, you serve a low resolution version in the page, while switching automatically to High definition video when played full screen, making sure quality remains impeccable. If the connection of the visitor cannot handle HD, they can switch to low resolution manually.

Last Updated on Monday, 29 March 2010 12:09 Written by Rudolf Boogerman

TimedText is quite simple. It is a straightforward XML file and it has the begin time, end time and the sentence to display. These are enclosed by a paragraph tag (HTML) per subtitle line. Below you see an example of a subtitling with the video below it.

How to create a skin for JW Player

skin-shotBelow you can see the skin elements of of the control bar.  As you can see, they consist of small images which you can easily change. The best way to start a skin is by copying an existing one. In the installation zip (s3mediapro.zip) is a folder called: skins and in that folder is a  sub folder called Beelden.  I used that one as a basis for Polished Metal, included in this module.

  • S3 Amazon and DreamHost: a perfect marriage
By placing all heavy files on S3 Amazon/CloudFront, you only need a lightweight solution like DreamHost for your site itself. That way you have the best of both worlds. Both services are very cheap and easy to deal with. In the past, I had my doubts regarding DreamHost and indeed, playing video or audio from [...]
  • How to switch from low resolution video to HD – part 2
In this part, which is meant for S3 Amazon account holders, we are going to focus on streaming video. Streaming has a lot of advantages, which are explained in S3 Streaming video with CloudFront.   One extra perk not discussed in that article is important: when you use HD switching, the HD video picks up where [...]
  • How to improve quality of video tutorials on YouTube
When you upload a 800×600 screen capture video tutorial to YouTube, the quality deteriorates so badly that texts in the video are hardly readable. The reason is that YouTube regards everything smaller then HD video as a free license to shrink the video to a resolution of 480 pixels wide. Viewing it full screen doesn’t [...]
  • Streaming HD Video test on S3 CloudFront
It is a while ago since I did a test with an HD video on S3 Amazon, so I thought this might be a good moment to go for it again. As we all know, HD video on video services like YouTube, Vimeo and others play reasonably well, although they inevitably stutter at some point. [...]
  • S3 Cloudfront: How to setup a bucket for private streaming – revised
To avoid problems with streaming video and audio, in particular private streaming, the way to go is to start with a fresh S3 AWS bucket without any content in it. Testimonials

"I'd like to share our wonderful experience with S3Media Stream.
We've tried a couple of different extensions in the past, including a product for which we paid money, but simply didn't work. We never received any support either -- our emails went completely ignored.

Fortunately, after some more searching, we came across S3Media Stream. Not only was this extension much more robust and easier to work with, but the support that we received from Rudolf is extraordinary.

Being skeptical about product claims, we had many pre-sale questions that Rudolf answered very quickly and professionally. After we purchased the product, Rudolf patiently guided us, via Skype, through all the steps to customize our setup.

This level of service and professionalism is not something you get to experience from many companies. It's refreshing and much appreciated!"

I've been searching for a long time for a solution that will allow me to stream videos with Amazon cloud by using Joomla CMS.
Integrating such a solution requires deep understanding of security settings and is not as staright-forward as a simple embedding.

Luckily, I found Joomla21Century and developer Rudolf who gave me a step by step guidance, including intervention on my own server. I was never alone in the process. Quick and detailed responses, diving into the smallest details are the main advantage of Rudolf, along with a great, reliable component which I highly recommend.

"I can only say that in the middle of tens of thousands of software developers selling their wares on the web, it's very refreshing to come across the team at Joomla 21 Century. Their products under the S3Media banner are very versatile and professionally packaged components for integrating S3 based media into your site.
I have been in the media industry for over thirty years and have worked with hundreds of different companies... but the service I have received from these guys is absolutely excellent!"

Peter Claridge www.peter-claridge.com

"There are a handful of extensions in the Joomla universe that dramatically increase the power and possibilities of this tremendous CMS.
S3Media Pro is one of those extensions. An incredible tool with equally incredible support."

"Once you get the hang of it, this plugin is just awesome. And I really love the suggestions in the articles.
What an idea to use watermarks for affiliate products!"

There is a WordPress version too!

Due to numerous requests, we decided to create a Wordpress version of S3Media Stream as well.  Check it out at www.wp21century.com
Since WordPress is fundamentally different from Joomla, this 'plugin' has its own approach, but there is no coding involved, just like the Joomla!- version.
